2011: I CONTINUE IRONMAN WITH AN AAA STENT GRAFT

I asked my surgeon joe, if I could continue ironman

Joe said, "I'd go easy, if I were you."  That was a call to apply my scientific approach to problem solving. I wasn't about to give up Ironman without a fight. So, I studied the problem.

Here's the stent that sits in my aorta today, since 2010

Could I safely do Ironman training, avoiding the risks of displacing my stent graft, which could kill me. Seemed like a science problem.

Life saved by the 2010 lake placid ironman

I suffered considerable foot burning during the 2010 Lake Placid Ironman (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2-mile marathon). This, I discovered was due a huge aortic aneurysm (6.9 cm.). If it ruptured I'd be dead in minutes. So, I was treated by the UNC Endovascular  Unit, with a stent graft.

THE ANSWER IS YES, BUT I HAD TO MAKE LOGICAL CHANGES.

To my surprise my book was appreciated!

FitOldDog describes how he returned to Ironman with an AAA stent graft.

I wrote a book on my journey

To My Delight I helped people

To My Delight I helped people

My first ebook, leaving much to be desired. But it was my first venture into writing non-science books and articles. On reflection, I think it would make a better audiobook. Once I'm over my CABG, I'll do that.
